Get started with the DJI FPV
Get started with the DJI FPV
Follow the steps below and get the DJI FPV flying. Keep in mind that this drone weighs more than 500g, so you'll need a drone course basic if you're flying this.
Step 1: charge all components
Step 2: connect the goggles to your drone at home
Step 3: perform the firmware update
Step 4: turn on the goggles, remote control and drone
1. Charge all parts
Good preparation is half the battle. So charge all the parts you need a day in advance. With the FPV, these are more parts than you're used to. There's the battery of the the drone, the remote, the goggles, and a battery for the goggles. You can also fly the FPV without the goggles. In that case, you'll only have to charge the remote and the battery for the drone.
2. Connect the goggles to your drone at home
You can already pair the goggles with the drone at home. You need the DJI Fly app on your phone for this. Connect the goggles to the separate battery. Now turn on the goggles, then the remote, and finally the drone. You do this by pressing the power button once briefly and then for a long time. When all devices are turned on, connect the goggles to your smartphone with the USB-C cable. The DJI Fly app will now open automatically. It probably asks for a firmware update. Make sure to perform this. It's useful to perform this update a day in advance, because it takes quite a long time and it drains the batteries. Once the update is done, the devices are paired.
3. Perform the firmware update
It probably asks for a firmware update. Make sure to perform this. It's useful to perform this update a day in advance, because it takes quite a long time and it drains the batteries. When the update is finished, the devices are paired. Are the batteries empty? Recharge them. Next, take all the gear to the location where you'll be flying. Once your at the location, turn the propellers on the drone and the antennas on the goggles.
4. Turn on the goggles, remote, and drone
Now, turn on the goggles frist, then the remote, and finally the drone again. The devices connect automatically, you don't need a smartphone for this. When you put the goggles on your head, you'll see a screen with the image of the camera. Briefly push the joysticks of the remote down 2 times and the drone starts the engines. Raise the left joystick and the drone takes off.
