Camera

S20: 3 cameras, multiple photos and videos at the same time

The Samsung Galaxy S20 has 3 cameras. The standard les and wide-angle lense are 12 megapixels each. The 64-megapixel telephoto lens has been considerably improved compared to previous Samsung devices. For example, the 3x optical zoom allows to zoom in 3 times without your photo becoming blurry. These 3 lenses have a new image sensor, so the camera captures the light better and your photo will be sharper. Samsung has also developed new camera software. If you use the Single Take function, the device takes up to 14 photos and videos at the same time, so you always capture important moments perfectly.

S10: 3 cameras, variable aperture

The S10 has 3 cameras on the back of the device. The 12-megapixel standard lens has a variable aperture. That means the camera determines how much light enters the lens, depending on the ambient light. This way, you can see details on your photos both in bright sunlight and at night. You can use the 16-megapixel wide-angle lens to easily capture large groups and buildings. The 12-megapixel telephoto lens has 2x optical zoom, which allows you to bring an object 2 times closer without ending up with a blurry photo.

Screen

S10 vs S20 size

S20: 6.2-inch Quad HD screen with 120Hz

The Samsung S20 has a 6.2-inch Quad HD screen. This screen is just as sharp and 0.1 inch larger than the screen of the S10. The most striking thing about the S20's screen is the unique refresh rate of 120Hz. Because the screen is refreshed 120 times per second, it's very smooth. This allows you to scroll through your timeline and menus without lags. This is the first time that Samsung has switched from 60Hz, which is the standard for smartphone screens at the moment.

Difference S10 and S20 size

S10: 6.1-inch Quad HD screen with 60Hz

The Samsung Galaxy S10 has a 6.1-inch Quad HD screen. This screen has a refresh rate of 60 times per second, so the movements on your screen are a lot less fluid than on the S20. The selfie camera of the S20 is integrated in the top center of the screen, whereas it's on the top right of the S10.

Battery

S20 speed

S20: 4000mAh battery, 25W fast charging

Samsung used a large 4000mAh battery in the Galaxy S20, so you'll easily be able to get through the day without having to recharge your device. The S20 also supports 25-watt fast charging, so you can charge your device halfway in less than half an hour. In addition, the device can be charged wirelessly at 15 watts. It will take approximately 2 hours for it to be fully charged.

Performance Samsung S10

S10: 3400mAh battery, 15W fast charging

The Samsung S10 has a 3400mAh battery, which isn't very big. You might have to recharge the device during the day. If you use the 15-watt charger included in the box, the S10 will be fully charged in a little more than an hour and a half. That's not as fast as the S20. If you want to charge the S10 wirelessly, you'll also have to wait a bit longer. Due to the 10-watt capacity, that can take 3 to 4 hours.

Performance

Samsung S10 and S20 battery difference

S20: powerful device with 128GB storage

The S20 has a powerful Samsung Exynos 990 processor. This allows you to launch demanding apps and games without problems. Thanks to the 8GB RAM, you can quickly switch between different apps. Samsung chose to release the S20 in one storage version of 128GB. Do you need more storage space? You can expand the memory up to 1TB with a micro SD card.

S10: fast device with multiple storage options

The Galaxy S10 has an Exynos 9820 processor. It's less powerful than the processor of the S20, but it can handle demanding apps and games just as well. Like the S20, the S10 has 8GB RAM, so you can switch between apps just as smoothly. In addition, the S10 comes in a version with 128GB storage space as well as one with 512GB. In both cases, you can expand the storage capacity up to 512GB with a memory card.

S20: 4G or 5G

S20 4G or 5G

The S20 will be available in both a 4G and 5G version. 5G is a new, improved version of mobile internet. At the time of launch, the 5G network hasn't been rolled out in Belgium yet. Due to discussion with the government, it's still unclear when the 5G network will be rolled out in Belgium. It's expected that providers can only start installing 5G transmission towers at the end of 2020 or the beginning of 2021. This doesn't mean you won't have access to mobile data with the 5G version of the S20. This device can also access the 4G network that is available everywhere in Belgium.
