Screen and size

Samsung Note 20 Ultra vs Note 20 size

Note 20 Ultra: 6.9-inch Quad HD screen

The Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra has a razor-sharp Quad HD screen. With a screen diagonal of 6.9-inches (17.5 centimeters), the smartphone is very large. This is useful when you want to watch or edit videos, but it's difficult to operate the device with one hand. In addition, it doesn't fit in every pocket. The screen has a refresh rate of 120 times per second. This is 2 times more than the average smartphone. Animations look smooth as a result. You'll notice this while scrolling through your timeline or while gaming, for example.

Note 20: 6.7-inch Full HD screen

The Full HD screen of the Samsung Note 20 is clear, but less sharp than that of the Note 20 Ultra. With a screen diagonal of 6.7 inches (17 centimeters), the Note 20 is also slightly smaller. Keep in mind that this device is difficult to operate with one hand. The refresh rate of this screen is 60 times per second. That's half as fast as its bigger brother. Scrolling through your timeline and gaming will be just as smooth as on the average smartphone.

Cameras

Samsung Note 20 Ultra or Note 20 camera

Note 20 Ultra: detailed photos, 5x optical zoom

With the 108-megapixel standard lens, the smallest details on your photos are clearly visible. Thanks to the wide-angle lens and the telephoto lens, you have the right camera for all situations. With the 12-megapixel wide-angle lens, large buildings or groups of people fit in your photo completely. You can use the 12-megapixel telephoto lens with 5 times optical zoom to zoom in far without your photo becoming less sharp. The Time-of-Flight sensor measures depth accurately. This creates an artistic depth of field effect in, for example, portrait photos.

Note 20: 3x optical zoom

You can also take sharp photos with the 12-megapixel standard lens of the Note 20. When you view the photos in large size, they're slightly less detailed. Like its bigger brother, the Note 20 has a 12-megapixel wide-angle lens. The 64-megapixel telephoto lens on this device has 3 times optical zoom. That means you can zoom in less far without losing quality. Just like the Note 20 Ultra, you can record videos in 8K. The Note 20 doesn't have a Time-of-Flight sensor.

Computing power and storage

Samsung Note 20 Ultra storage

Note 20 Ultra: powerhouse with expandable memory

The Samsung Note 20 Ultra has the powerful Samsung Exynos 990 processor. The most demanding tasks aren't problem at all. For example, games and photo or video editing programs. Thanks to the large 12GB RAM, you can also switch smoothly between different apps. The power in combination with the beautiful screen make the Note 20 Ultra suitable as a gaming smartphone. The already decent 256GB storage can be expanded to 1TB with a memory card. This allows you to use the Note 20 Ultra as external storage for all your photos, videos, and other media.

Note 20: powerful device, storage not expandable

Just like the Note 20 Ultra, the Samsung Note 20 has the Exynos 990 processor. The Note 20 is also suitable for the most demanding tasks. The 8GB RAM is smaller, but still very powerful. Multitasking will be a very smooth process on this device. The 256GB storage has enough space for your apps, music, and the photos and videos you take with your smartphone. Unlike the Ultra version, the Note 20 doesn't have a memory card reader. As a result, the storage isn't expandable.

Extra functionalities

Wireless DeX Note 20 Ultra

Note 20 Ultra: Wireless Samsung DeX

Thanks to the fast charge function, you can charge the large 4500mAh battery extremely quickly. The Note 20 Ultra can easily last a day when it's fully charged. Thanks to the included S Pen, you can control the device with more precision. You can also slide it in so you can take a photo, for example. The Note 20 Ultra is suitable for the new Wireless Samsung DeX. Connect your smartphone to a keyboard, mouse, and Samsung screen wirelessly and use it as a fully-fledged computer. This is useful if you often use your smartphone for work.

Samsung Galaxy Note 20 battery

Note 20: smaller battery, Wireless Samsung DeX

The 4300mAh battery of the Note 20 is smaller, but lasts at least as long as that of the Note 20 Ultra. This has to do with the smaller screen and the lower refresh rate of the Note 20. When you set the refresh rate on the Ultra to 120 times per second, it has to work harder to display the image. The Note 20 supports the same fast charging protocol, so you can charge it in no time. This device has the same S Pen as the Note 20 Ultra and also supports Wireless DeX.

Conclusion

In terms of computing power, you hardly notice the difference between these devices. In all other areas, the Note 20 Ultra has more to offer. The large 6.9-inch screen, for example, is sharper and also smoother, thanks to the higher refresh rate. The photos are slightly more detailed and you can zoom in further without losing quality. Both devices support the new Wireless Samsung DeX.
