Kobo Nia vs Clara

Clara 2E: 6-inch 1448x1072 screen

The Clara 2E has a 6-inch screen size, which makes it a compact e-reader. You can easily take it with you on the go, so you can comfortably read on the bus or train. The screen has a 1448x1072 resolution, which is slightly sharper than the screen of the Kobo Nia. The Kobo Clara 2E doesn't have any physical buttons, which makes it less easier to use than other e-readers.

Difference Kobo Nia and Clara

Nia 6-inch 1024x758 screen

The Kobo Nia has the same compact size as the Clara HD. The screen has a 1024x758 resolution, so it's a bit less sharp. When you use it, you won't notice the difference in resolution between the e-readers. The Kobo Nia has no physical buttons, just like the Clara HD. You can use the touchscreen to browse your books and menus.

Clara 2E: 512MB RAM and ComfortLight PRO

Thanks to ComfortLight PRO and the dark mode, you can comfortably read on the Clara 2E in the dark as well. The brightness of the screen changes automatically during the day. The screen becomes increasingly yellow as time passes. With a 512MB RAM, the Clara 2E is faster than the Nia. You'll mostly notice this because the screen responds faster. If the 1500mAh battery is fully charged, you can use the e-reader for about 3 weeks. The Clara 2E has 16GB of storage space.

Kobo Clara vs Nia

Nia: ComfortLight and 1000mAh battery

Thanks to ComfortLight, you can adjust the brightness of the screen as you like. When you like to read before you go to sleep, the Nia is less suitable. This e-reader doesn't have a blue light filter. The 1000mAh battery of the Kobo Nia will last about 2 weeks without charging in between, depending on the brightness of the screen. The Nia has 8GB storage capacity, so you can store half the amount of books you can store on the Clara 2E.

Other useful functions

Clara 2E: water-resistant and listen to audio books

The Clara 2E is a water-resistant e-reader, so you can read in the tub or pool without risk. This means that you can relax with a good book in the tub or on vacation. In addition, you can connect wireless headphones or earbuds to the Clara 2E. This way, you can also listen to audio books.

Nia: not water-resistant and no audio books

The Kobo Nia isn't water-resistant. You can still read in the tub, but you do run the risk of the e-reader breaking if you accidentally drop it. Nia also doesn't support audio files, so you can only read your favorite e-books.

Conclusion

The Kobo Clara 2E has a number of advantages compared to the Kobo Nia. The Clara 2E is faster than the Nia. And thanks to the dark mode and Comfortlight PRO, you can read more comfortably on this screen. In addition, you can read in the tub without risk with this water-resistant e-reader. With the 2E, you can also listen to audio books with wireless headphones. The Nia is a small e-reader with few extra functions. This is mostly useful for on the go.
