What accessories do you need for your e-reader?
Travel case
The screen of your e-reader is pretty fragile, so it's best to protect it. You don't want your e-reader to break or get damaged. There's a special cover for every e-reader so you can take it with you in your bag without having to worry. Many covers also have a built-in stand. This allows you to place the e-reader on the table when you're reading, for example. A book case with a sleep mode ensures the e-reader automatically switches on and off when you open and close the cover.
Charger
An e-reader often doesn't include a charger, but it does usually include a cable to charge the e-reader with and add books to it. It's important to have a charger with the right connector. If you don't have one or don't have enough, it's best to buy a charger. If you're on the go a lot, you can also use a car charger or power bank. Thanks to the energy-efficient screen of e-readers, your battery usually lasts weeks on a single charge.
Stylus
Some e-readers support the use of a stylus. With a stylus for an e-reader, you can make quick notes and marks in your books or other files. If you open a lot of work files on your e-reader, a stylus is definitely a useful accessory. You can add notes to the margins or quickly and easily highlight important parts of text.
Storage capacity
The more books you want to store on your e-reader, the more internal storage capacity you need. Up to 10% of the total storage space is used by the operating system. So if the reader has a storage capacity of 2GB, you can use 1.8GB for books. You can store up to 1000 books with 1GB, depending on the book length and the amount of images. Comic books take up more space, for example. With some e-readers, you can expand the memory with a memory card.
Books
You may already have an extensive collection of e-books and want to know whether you can read them with your new device. Most e-books you buy online have the ePub file format. Every e-reader supports this file type. There are also e-books in other file formats. That's why you should always check whether your e-reader supports that format before you buy the e-book. Some devices also support Word, Excel, or PDF files. That's useful if you use your e-reader for work or school, for example.
